Heating oil prices continue to fall in Maine, down 50 cents a gallon since February

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) -- State energy officials say the price of heating oil continues to drop in Maine.

The Governor's Energy Office said Tuesday that its weekly price survey pegs the statewide average price of oil at $3.38 gallon, down 5 cents since the last survey three weeks ago. Kerosene prices have fallen 10 cents a gallon, and kerosene has dropped by 4 cents.

Officials say oil prices have fallen 50 cents a gallon since they reached a record high in February.

As usual, northern Maine has the highest oil prices, and southern Maine has the lowest.
