Heating up to kick off the week
After a very active weekend of weather across the state, much drier air has arrived today. However, there is still a bit of upper level moisture over New Mexico which will allow light high elevation rain this afternoon. But dry air at the surface will evaporate most, if not all, rain that tries to fall in the lower elevations. Tomorrow will be similar to today with evaporating rain likely in valleys and light mountain rain.

A weak ridge of high pressure is building over the state, keeping temperatures above average through Wednesday. A storm arriving Wednesday evening will cool highs down statewide into Thursday. It will also bring widespread showers and storms across northern, central, and eastern New Mexico starting Wednesday afternoon and continuing throughout the day Thursday. There may even be a few flurries across the Northern Mountain peaks.
Drier air will arrive starting Friday into the weekend. This will allow temperatures to very quickly rebound to above average Friday afternoon. Temperatures will continue to soar to well above average into the weekend. The warmest/hottest weather so far this year will likely arrive Sunday.
