Heartbreak High is set to return to Netflix with a second season - and it's right around the corner.

The reboot of the iconic Australian comedy-drama follows the students and teachers of Hartley High as they navigate sex, love, identity, racial tensions, and general teen angst.

Launching in 2022, the show became an instant hit among Netflix viewers with a second season of the Emmy Award-winning series unveiled in the same year.

Posting a trailer for the brand new episodes on X, Netflix has confirmed that season 2 will drop on the streaming platform on April 11. And if the first glimpse of the season is anything to go by, they're correct when they add: "You're not readyyyyy".

After the chaos of season one, Amerie (Ayesha Madon) is back to being hated - despite being assured that everyone will have forgotten about her wild antics in season one.

She becomes the target of vicious online trolling, but there's so much more drama afoot with the challenge of picking a new school captain, disaster at their Formal night, new arrivals among the students and staff, and a potential love triangle in the mix.

Season two will see plenty of returning faces, including Madon and her bestie Harper (Asher Yasbincek) as well as James Majoos (Darren), Chloe Hayden (Quinni), Josh Heuston (Dusty), and Thomas Weatherall (Malakai).

Other actors heading back to school include Bryn Chapman Parish (Soider), Brodie Townsend (Ant), Gemma Chua-Tran (Sasha), and Sherry-Lee Watson (Missy). In the faculty, we have Rachel House (Woodsy) and Chika Ikogwe (Jojo) returning for series 2.

There will be plenty of new characters coming aboard, including Amerie's potential new love interest Rowan Callaghan (Sam Rechner) and Puriteen Zoe Clarke (Kartanya Maynard), as well as new head of PE Timothy Voss (Angus Sampson).

An official synopsis for the season reads: "All our heroes are back for Term Two at the 'lowest ranking school in the district'. But fresh hotties, a new sports teacher and a mystery assailant throw any hopes for a peaceful term into disarray, while the race for school captain is seeing dirty tactics run rife through Hartley High."

Heartbreak High season 2 comes to Netflix on April 11. Season 1 is available to stream now.
