Hearing delayed to July for man suspected of shooting a 10-year-old girl

The hearing for a man suspected of shooting and killing a 10-year-old girl was delayed until July following his hearing Monday in Kern County Superior Court.

Jesus Everado Rodriguez Haros, now 20, pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder, four counts of attempted murder, two counts of shooting at an occupied vehicle and one count of participating in a street gang.

At the time of the shooting, Rodriguez Haros was 17 and he was charged as an adult on March 11. The Californian requested his juvenile court records several times from the Kern County Probation Offic, but has not received a response.

The Californian previously reported Liliana Jimenez, 10, died after she was shot near North Hill Street in Arvin on July 17, 2021. Her brother Christian Jimenez and her father were also shot.

According to the probable cause statement submitted to the courts by the Arvin Police Department, Rodriguez Haros’ probation officer confirmed to Arvin police that Rodriguez Haros was a part of a street gang. Rodriguez Haros and another unidentified suspect drove next to Jimenez’s family car and shot at the car, according to the statement.

Rodriguez Haros is being represented by defense attorney Jesse Whitten. Rodriguez Haros’ next court hearing is scheduled for July 8. He is being held without bail.
