Health Department hires outreach director

May 13—Christopher Harris will be the next marketing public education outreach director for the New Mexico Department of Health.

Patrick Allen, the secretary of NMHealth, announced the appointment on Monday.

"We are very excited to have Christopher join the team here at NMHealth," Allen said in a news release. "Christopher's deep knowledge of marketing and engagement will help the department promote all the programs and services we offer to help make New Mexico the healthiest state by 2040."

Harris previously was the director of marketing and communications for Build Change. During his time there, he oversaw a rebrand effort for the organization.

He also has worked for the University of Colorado, the Davis Phinney Foundation, the Water Research Foundation and the Colorado School of Public Health.

He has a bachelor's degree from Champlain College and a master's degree from the University of Denver. He will make a little more than $47 per hour.
