Headstone found on highway to Yosemite National Park

OAKHURST, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Officers with the California Highway Patrol are searching for the owner of a headstone found on Highway 41, leading towards Yosemite National Park.

The California Highway Patrol reported on Tuesday that Caltrans staff found the headstone in a pullout on Highway 41, near Lewis Creek Trailhead. The location is less than 10 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite National Park.

The headstone is for a “Piao Ming Lu” and describes him as a “beloved husband and father.” He was born on Sept. 29, 1955, and passed away at the age of 51 on March 8, 2007.

The headstone has since been taken to the Caltrans yard in Coarsegold. The owner of the headstone is asked to contact either Caltrans or the CHP office in Oakhurst.
