HBO, Cinemax Now Available on Amazon Prime’s Channel Program
Amazon Prime members can now sign up to stream “Westworld,” “Game of Thrones” and other current and past HBO programming, as well as original series and movies from Cinemax, on Amazon Channels.
The e-commerce company’s Prime members can now sign up for a monthly HBO subscription for $14.99 per month, the same price at the HBO Now standalone streaming service. Cinemax on Amazon Channels is also available starting Thursday for $9.99 per month.
Amazon Channels, launched late 2015 (originally called the “Streaming Partners” program), lets Prime members select from more than 70 video subscriptions and add them to their existing membership. Existing partners include Showtime, Starz, Acorn TV, NBCUniversal’s Seeso, Machinima, Warner Bros.’ DramaFever, Tribeca Shortlist, Comedy Central’s Stand-Up Plus, and the service recently added PBS Kids and Fandor.
Separately, older HBO programming is also available on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. under a pact the companies struck in 2014. That covers series and specials that aired at least three years earlier on the premium cabler’s services.
“We share the goal of providing Amazon customers more ways to access all of the high-quality HBO and Cinemax programming they’ve been asking for,” said Sofia Chang, HBO’s exec VP of worldwide digital distribution and home entertainment.
Through Amazon Channels, Prime members can sign up for a 30-day free trial of HBO. With the subscription, users have unlimited streaming access to:
All episodes of current HBO series such as “Westworld,” “Divorce,” “Insecure,” “Ballers” and “Game of Thrones”
Movies like “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “The Revenant,” “Deadpool,” “Joy,” “The Martian,” “Ride Along 2,” “Sisters” and “Straight Outta Compton”
News-focused content such as “John Oliver, Bill Maher and Vice
All seasons of older HBO originals like “The Sopranos,” “Sex and the City,” “True Blood,” “The Wire” and “Deadwood”
Limited series including “The Night Of,” “The Pacific” and “The Jinx”
Documentaries including “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief,” “Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck,” “3½ Minutes,” “Ten Bullets,” “Everything Is Copy,” “Jim: The James Foley Story,” “Three Days of Terror: The Charlie Hebdo Attacks” and “The Ties that Bind”
Original comedy specials from Louis C.K., Amy Schumer, Billy Crystal, Sarah Silverman, Ricky Gervais and the late Robin Williams
Cinemax original series include “The Knick,” “Quarry,” “Outcast,” “Banshee” and “Strike Back.” The channel also features movies including “American Sniper,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Pitch Perfect 2” and “Vacation,” as well as “Trainwreck” and “Jurassic World” which are arriving in December.
