Haysville school leaders and teachers continue negotiations for new contract

HAYSVILLE, Kan. (KSNW) — Negotiations continue between teachers and Haysville school leaders. The two sides are trying to reach a compromise on a new contract.

Teachers want more money.

They say the cost of insurance is going up, and their salaries are not in line with other districts in the area.

One teacher says more than 100 teachers are not being paid the right salary.

“The chief financial officer finding a million dollars that we have known was in our budget for a very long time led us to believe that we really did have a lot more money to give to the teachers and to fix some of those teachers that are misplaced on the salary schedule,” Amy Driskill, Ruth Clark Elementry School teacher, said

The district also sent out tips for parents when talking about death and resources for families in light of recent tragedies.
