Hawk gets stuck in net at Top Golf; rescued by Overland Park first responders
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A hawk is now safe after getting stuck in the net at Top Golf in Overland Park on Wednesday.
Overland Park Animal Control Officers responded to a call at Top Golf for a bird caught in one of the large nets, roughly 120 feet in the air.
Overland Park Police and Fire, Game Warden and Operation Wildlife helped save the hawk.
Police said after hours of brainstorming, they found a truck that could reach the bird. A few hours later, responders successfully removed the “federally protected red-shouldered hawk” from the net.
The hawk was taken for treatment at Operation Wildlife. Responders hope the hawk will go through rehab and then be released back to its natural habitat.
