Hawaiian CEO Dunkerley extends contract 3 years

HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaiian Airlines CEO Mark Dunkerley is signing on to lead the Honolulu-based airline for another three years.

Parent company Hawaiian Holdings Chairman Lawrence Hershfield said Monday a contract extension will keep Dunkerley at Hawaiian through 2016.

Hershfield says Dunkerley has showed exemplary leadership developing and executing Hawaiian's long-term business plan.

He says the board is pleased Dunkerley will continue to lead the business.

Hawaiian is rapidly expanding by flights connecting Hawaii to Asia and to the U.S. mainland. Hawaiian's capacity increased 28 percent in the July-September quarter compared to the same three months last year.

This month, it added a nonstop flight from Honolulu to Sapporo, Japan. It will start direct service to Auckland, New Zealand in March.
