LONDON — People always make a big deal about the last words spoken by on-screen characters before they die.

In films and TV shows there's a long tradition of sending key characters out with a flourish of parting wisdom, but, let's be honest, Game of Thrones isn't exactly your average TV show.

Reddit user ControvT recently collected the last words spoken by every dead character on the show. And while plenty of them are memorable, many of them are just as tragic, unexpected or simply forgettable.

Here are the final lines spoken by some of the show's biggest characters.

Although some of these lines are poignant, there are plenty — like poor, old Ned Stark's final quote, for instance — that are blunt, confusing or ironic.

But that perfectly sums up the show, doesn't it? Characters aren't given lengthy deathbed speeches or powerful parting words because all too often they're abruptly snatched away without warning.
