St Anne’s Primary School end of year concert and presentation night last Thursday night was held at the school grounds for the first time in many years.

Teachers opted to have the special night back at the school after being held at the Harvey Amphitheatre for the past few years and the change was welcomed by the big crowd of parents and families.

The junior classes delighted the crowd with popular Christmas Carols.

The night began with a nativity story, coordinated by music teacher Pam Mailau, which included narration by senior students and songs performed by each class.

Acting principal Peter Sell made special mention of former principal John Walker.

“The 2014 school year has provided the school community with a number of challenges and a very significant challenge was the loss of the school principal John Walker, ” Mr Sell said.

“This community, especially the staff and students, are to be commended on their level of resilience in how they have overcome this tragic event, ” Mr Sell said.

Mr Sell announced a new Annual Music Scholarship had been created by the Bunbury Diocese in honour of Mr Walker and his 22 years’ service to education.

“The recipient will be a Year 6 student from one of the Catholic feeder schools to Bunbury Catholic College,” Mr Sell said.

St Anne’s is also looking at dedicating a new play area in the junior primary area to the former principal.
