Harvest Moon Drive-In giving back to community after cat rescue operation in Iroquois Co.

GIBSON CITY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Harvest Moon Drive-in Theatre is helping to give back to the community tonight by supporting local animal shelters after a large-scale rescue operation earlier this week.

WCIA reported on Wednesday 118 cats — including pregnant ones and kittens — were rescued from a single apartment in Iroquois County. River Valley and Iroquois County Animal Rescues took in all of the cats, doubling their cat counts at the shelters and leaving them in need of more supplies and help than usual.

Tonight, anyone who brings in a donation for the animals at the drive-in will receive two free movie tickets. In addition, any donations made will be matched by the drive-in owners with a bag of cat food.

The theater will be screening Civil War and Dumb and Dumber.

The drive-in announced the event on their Facebook page, where they reposted WCIA’s story on the rescue from earlier this week. The drive-in is also running a special pet night event, where visitors can bring their furry friends — cats included — to watch the films with them.
