Hartselle High senior selected for National Speech and Debate competition

Feb. 23—Hartselle High senior Samantha Simmons is one of four students from Alabama selected to represent the state at the National Speech and Debate Association.

Simmons earned a spot at the national competition during the state contest held last weekend in Birmingham. The national competition, which will feature 390 students from across the country, will take place in June in Phoenix.

This marks the latest achievement for Simmons, who served as governor of Alabama Girls State and one of the state's two representatives to Girls Nation. She also represented Morgan County during Alabama's Distinguished Young Women program.
