Harrisburg now offering home repair assistance

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Home repair assistance applications are now available for Harrisburg city residents in need of making necessary improvements to their homes.

Mayor Wanda Williams has made $5 million available for homeowner repair projects from the city’s allotment of federal American Rescue Plan money. To qualify, the property must be located inside the City of Harrisburg and homeowners must live in the city as their primary residence. It is for essential repairs, like roofing, electrical issues, HVAC, and plumbing.

“When my administration asked our citizens what they needed most coming out of the pandemic, an overwhelming number of people said help with home repairs,” Williams said. “Many people didn’t feel comfortable having workers in their homes. Now that we are a few years past COVID, we are hoping to provide some much-needed assistance to families in Harrisburg who need it most.”

A maximum of $30,000 is available per home.

Federal income guidelines as set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development must be met in order to be eligible.
