Harley-Davidson Issues Recall of Dyna Low Rider
Harley-Davidson has issued a recall of more than 8,000 Dyna Low Rider (FXDL 103) models because of an issue with the electrical system.
The issue comes as a result of the bike’s ignition switch being negatively affected by engine vibration. Harley-Davidson says sustained engine vibration may result in internal damage to the ignition switch, potentially causing the engine to stall. Obviously, if the engine cuts off unexpectedly, it dramatically increases the risk of a crash.
The National Highway Traffic Administration reports that the issue has been the subject of more than 70 warranty claims, but so far there have been no reported crashes associated with the fault.

Some 8,060 units are affected, covering models manufactured between 6 January 2014 and 7 April 2016.
The NHTSA says riders she be alert to the possibility of slight hesitation when accelerating through the 4500 - 5500 RPM range. This may serve as a sign that the rider’s vehicle is affected.
Meanwhile, Harley-Davidson says it will notify affected owners and dealers will install an improved ignition switch freed of charge. The recall is expected to begin this month. Concerned owners should contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464.
