  • April 26 Seedling Giveaway & Grand Opening – Celebrate the opening of the new Coldwell Banker Mountain Properties Northside in Taos.

  • April 26 460th annual Shakespeare Birthday Revue – A performance of Shakespeare’s masterpieces at the Otero Artspace at 7:00 p.m. in Alamogordo.

  • April 26 Open Space-Time – This free artmaking event at Meow Wolf Santa Fe’s community space begins at 12:00 p.m. No RSVP is required.

  • April 26-27 Antigone – This play presented by the Children’s Theatre of the Mesilla Valley present will be at the Rio Grande Theatre in Las Cruces.

  • April 27 Saturday Farmers Market – The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market is open year-round on Saturdays in the heart of the Santa Fe Railyard.

  • April 27 Mycology, Medicine, Cultivation, and Mycoremediation – Learn about mushrooms and their medicinal uses at County Rd. 87 in Chimayo beginning at 10:00 a.m.

  • April 27 Remedios Workshop at Los Luceros – The Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area (NRGNHA) is hosting this event teaching how to identify plants and local herbs in Alcalde from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • April 27-28 Hummingbird Festival – The festival in Belen takes place at 129 S. 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • April 28 Sunday Chess Club – Popolo’s Games in Taos will host this free chess club open to all ages beginning at 1:00 p.m.

  • May 2 Yoga at the Taos Public Library – A free beginner Yoga class for adults ages 18 and up happens every Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Albuquerque Notices

🔶 Registration open for Albuquerque Little Theatre summer camps – Albuquerque Little Theatre Education and Youth Program offers classes, workshops, and summer camps that cater to students of all ages. Kids can register for Disney’s Descendants musical camp, the play actors mini camp, the Play Builders summer camp, and more.

🔶 New Mexico State Fair holding auditions to sing the National Anthem – The live auditions will be at the Boxcar Stage from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the EXPO New Mexico on August 6. To audition live, you must sign up by August 5.

🔶 ABQ BioPark getting electric train, gray wolf refuge, new event pavilion – In-progress projects include a $13 million renovation to Heritage Farm, which shows traditional farming methods. The BioPark announced plans to upgrade in 2023, and now say that the site could be complete in fall of 2024, including a new train at the site.

🔶 Overhaul of Albuquerque 98th Street and Gibson Boulevard to begin Monday – Crews are expected to spend 10 months overhauling the 98th Street and Gibson Boulevard intersection. The project will be constructed in four phases, and the detours are expected to begin during phase one starting Monday.

🔶 Upcoming Albuquerque Isotopes homestand features fireworks, Mariachis, dollar dogs and more – Fireworks shows will be April 26, 27, and May 4, 5. The homestand also features the second Mariachis night of the season on Cinco de Mayo.

🔶 Sandia Labs hosting Small Business Opportunities fair – Sandia Labs is seeking small businesses to subcontract to do work for the labs. Sandia is open to working with a variety of different businesses for many different services. The event is May 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Marriot Albuquerque on Louisiana Boulevard.

🔶 Petroglyphs National Monument opening new trail system on May 3 – The National Park Service (NPS) is opening the South Point Day Use Area. The trailhead gives new access to the southernmost portion of the volcanic escarpment, the NPS says.

🔶 Forest service asking for input on proposed burn near Albuquerque – The plan is to address nearly 3,000 acres of land in the Sandia Ranger District, and in Bernalillo and Sandoval Counties. The Forest Service says the project would reduce wildfire risk to nearby communities and restore forest structure. The deadline to submit comments is May 3, 2024.

🔶 Registration open for Bernalillo County summer camps – The summer camps run from June 10 to July 26, and registration is now open at this link. The seven-week program costs $290. The summer programs run from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

🔶 Constructive Conversations series with Albuquerque city leaders – The city is holding the series to help bridge the gap between what the community wants and what the city can do. The constructive conversation series runs through the month of May and will reach all over the city. The events are free to attend, but guests must RSVP in advance, by clicking here.

New Mexico Notices

🔶 Rio Grande Theatre offering 2024 Summer Camp – Registration is now open for the inaugural year of the Rio Grande Theatre Camp. Theater and tech classes will be offered. The last day to register is May 24 at 4:00 p.m.

🔶 Valles Caldera offering summer outdoor programs – In addition to offering hiking and fishing, the site is also planning ranger-led activities. For more information and schedules, check this link. Some events require registration.

🔶 BLM looking for comment on oil and gas leases in New Mexico – In 2021, BLM approved leases for about 6,000 acres of land in New Mexico. Then, Citizens Caring for the Future sued BLM over the plan. Now, as that lawsuit remains pending, the federal government is asking the public to comment on a new analysis of the leases. The deadline for commenting is May 21, 2024.

🔶 New Mexico Dept. of Workforce Solutions launches podcast – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (DWS) is calling the podcast “Good Job New Mexico.” Episodes will be released every two weeks. They can be found on the usual podcasting platforms.

🔶 New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Dept. warns community about fake demand letters – The letters tell the owners to call a 1-800 number by a certain date, or the state will seize their property. The letters have been sent to property owners in Valencia County and possibly elsewhere. The letters are not from the state Taxation and Revenue Department.

🔶 Statewide safe surrender event to clear outstanding bench warrants to happen in Santa Fe – The safe surrender event provides anyone with outstanding warrants an opportunity to avoid jail and other consequences by appearing before a judge. Individuals with bench warrants from any magistrate or district court in New Mexico can go to the Santa Fe County District Courthouse, 225 Montezuma Avenue, on Friday, April 26 from 1-7 p.m. and Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

🔶 New Mexico gets $156 million for solar projects – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is giving New Mexico $156,120,000 to fund solar projects. New Mexico originally asked for $250 million in federal funding for solar improvements. The money is part of a $7 billion nationwide grant opportunity.

🔶 New Mexico laws going into effect in spring – Lawmakers recently approved a wide range of bills, from gun-related regulations to adjusted requirements students must meet to graduate high school. Many of those new laws go into effect on May 15.

🔶 Alamogordo Animal Control adoption event – Pet adoption fees will be $40 for the entire month of April. Contact the office at 575-439-4330 for more information.

🔶 New Mexico offering debt relief for healthcare workers – Workers must meet certain qualifications, such as working in an eligible occupation or under an eligible healthcare license. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
