Hampton University to host panel discussion to commemorate 70th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton University is set to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court case of Brown v. Board of Education, as well as the companion case from Virginia, Davis v. Prince Edward County Board on Thursday.

The event will consist of a panel discussion from several Virginians leaders, including Congressman Bobby Scott and Attorney General Jason Miyares, and will recognize both the progress and challenges in educational equality since the historic 1954 case.

The discussion will take place in the Hampton University Student Center on May 16, and is free and open to the public. A reception will take place from 3-4 p.m., followed by the program from 4:15-6 p.m.
