Hampton police search for suspect after a man was shot in his sleep Sunday night

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – The Hampton Police Division is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect after a man was shot in his sleep Sunday night.

According to officials, Public Safety Communications received multiple calls around 11:17 p.m. in reference to gunshots heard in the 1st block of Tabatha Circle.

Officers arrived to the scene and found an adult male suffering from a non life-threatening gunshot wound inside of his home. The man was transferred to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

An investigation revealed the victim was inside his home sleeping, when someone approached in a vehicle and fired multiple shots towards the residence. The victim and one unoccupied vehicle were struck as a result.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hampton Police Major Crimes Unit.
