New Hampshire's May tax receipts almost $6M below estimates

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- After strong tax collections in April, New Hampshire's May receipts are about $6 million below what analysts projected when they put together the monthly plan estimating collections of various taxes.

Administrative Services Commissioner Linda Hodgdon said Tuesday that some businesses may have paid taxes in April that had been expected to be received in May. Business taxes in April were $18 million ahead of estimates.

The state collected $85 million during May and has taken in just over $2 billion this fiscal year.

The dip still leaves New Hampshire $28 million in the black for the year. The state got another $2 million in hospital taxes, but is still $32 million below estimates for the tax this year.
