Halloween and history = a fun time at Ashland Pumpkin Glow

ASHLAND − Candy, glowing pumpkins and family fun.

All were on hand Saturday as the Ashland County Historical Society hosted its fourth annual Pumpkin Glow at the Freer Children's home.

The family-friendly event featured goodies from local businesses, more than 300 illuminated jack-o’-lanterns, food trucks and Halloween music.

Hundreds of jack-o’-lanterns guided cars around the property where local business owners and organizations handed out goodies.

The Freer Home featured its new exhibit "The History of Halloween and Ashland Urban Legends." The exhibit traces the origins of Halloween from its Celtic roots to Halloween’s arrival in America "with an added flair of spooky stories across Ashland County."

Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Call the Ashland County Historical Society, 419-289-3111, with any questions on the event.
