Halifax Mooseheads win Memorial Cup with 6-4 victory over Portland Winterhawks

SASKATOON - Nathan MacKinnon had a hat tick as the Halifax Mooseheads won their first-ever MasterCard Memorial Cup with a 6-4 victory over the Portland Winterhawks.

Konrad Abeltshauser had his first two goals of the tournament for the Mooseheads, while Martin Frk also scored. Jonathan Drouin assisted on all of Halifax's goals.

Nicolas Petan got Portland on the scoreboard with a short-handed goal, while Seth Jones, Brendan Leipsic and Ty Rattie also scored.

The Mooseheads earned the right to play for Canada's junior hockey championship after winning the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League title.
