Haiti president to join Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias in concert in Dominican Republic

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - Haitian President Michel Martelly will share the stage with Spanish singer Julio Iglesias at a fundraising concert next month in the Dominican Republic, a spokesman for the National Palace said Thursday.

Enrique Mari said Martelly will join Iglesias on stage for two songs. The titles of the songs haven't been revealed because the promoter wants them to be a surprise, but one will be in Spanish and the other in English, Mari said.

The show is to take place Dec. 28 in the popular tourist city of La Romana.

The proceeds will go toward a charity Martelly co-founded with his wife, Sophia, the Rose and White Foundation, Mari said.

Before he took office last year, Martelly was a globe-trotting singer and keyboard player who performed under the stage name "Sweet Micky." He's still fond of breaking out into song at public events.
