Hair Wraps Are So Hot Right Now

Wearing your hair in a standard ponytail or top knot can get pretty boring. However, celebrities have found a new way to spice ‘em up — and it’s super simple. Wrapping your hair in fabric is suddenly the coolest way to update your updo. Need proof? Just check out the latest slew of celebrities and hairstylists who have done it themselves.

Hairstylist Laurie Heaps recently posted a picture of Rowan Blanchard on her Instagram wearing a black velvet fabric wrapped around her low ponytail.

That’s not all, Alicia Keys sports rope-wrapped pigtails for her TimeOut New York feature.

The look has even been seen on the runways, with models wearing velvet wrapped ponytails at the Suno Spring/Summer ’17 fashion show.

Lala Anthony took the look to the next level when she actually weaved some thin rope through her braids at the 2016 Global Citizen Festival In Central Park last week.

Luckily for us, this look is easy to create at home. Simply grab a ribbon, piece of leather, strings or any other kind of fabric for that matter, and wrap the base of your ponytail with it. You can even use it to wrap the length of your ponytail as well, depending on how much coverage you need.

Considering how ponytails have become the standard for a bad hair days, this is the easiest way to update your look without having to braid or twist your hair into a complicated mess. So, remember this hack the next time you decide to sweep your hair up into a pony.
