Hagerstown Police investigating shooting that left two wounded

Hagerstown Police are investigating a shooting Thursday night in the downtown area that left two people with what are believed to be injuries not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Police believe the shooting was a targeted incident, according to a police news release.

Officers responded to the 100 block of North Locust Street around 11:37 p.m. for a reported shooting, the release states.

Police found evidence a shooting happened.

Shortly later, they were notified two people with gunshot wounds showed up at Meritus Medical Center via a private vehicle, the release states.

Other than those two people, nothing else appears to have been struck by the gunfire, the release states.

Police were not releasing further information as of late Friday morning due to the ongoing investigation.
