Hadley man arrested on charges of stolen vehicle, methamphetamine

May 13—SLAYTON — A Hadley man faces charges in Murray County Fifth District Court of felony-level theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and methamphetamine-related crimes involving children.

The charges stem from a May 1 incident in Murray County, according to the law enforcement report. A Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force officer learned a vehicle that was reported stolen from Rochester was in a garage in Hadley.

Roxanne Erickson-Burback reportedly left a drug treatment program in Rochester, stole the vehicle and ended up in Hadley with her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Jon Peterson, 30, of Hadley. Both had reportedly relapsed and were using methamphetamine before she turned herself in on a Pipestone County warrant.

Erickson-Burback said she took the keys from the car's ignition before turning herself, and noted the keys were still in her purse.

Officers then executed a search warrant on the site in Hadley. They reportedly detained Peterson while searching the residence. During the search, officers reportedly found the stolen vehicle in the garage. They then requested and received a search warrant to look specifically for controlled substances.

During the second search, officers found a container with a white crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a hypodermic syringe, tourniquet and several glass methamphetamine pipes.

The law enforcement report states three minor children live at the residence. All were placed on an emergency hold.

If convicted, Peterson faces a maximum of five years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine on each of the three felony-level charges.
