Gunfire Heard as Attackers Target Communications Ministry in Kabul

Multiple casualties were reported as militants attacked Afghanistan’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Kabul on April 20, according to Afghan reports.

The country’s interior ministry said four militants who attacked the ministry were killed, and that “more than 2,000 civilian staff were rescued.”

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, citing police, said “a bomber blew himself up outside the ministry, clearing the way for the other attackers to enter.”

TOLO reported that the Taliban had issued a statement denying involvement in the attack.
