Gun-toting duo on moped punches 2 men in Queens, steals $3K

Two bandits on a moped wearing bullet-resistant vests emblazoned with the word “Police” went on a spree in Queens early Tuesday, robbing one man of his moped and another man of $3,000 and a gold chain, cops said.

The duo, sporting black surgical masks, rolled up on a 34-year-old man near 71st St. and 37th Ave. in Jackson Heights about 2:45 a.m., flashed a gun and punched him in the face, cops said.

The crooks robbed the victim of $3,000 cash, his $700 gold chain and his Samsung cell phone before speeding off on the moped. They were wearing bullet-resistant vests labelled as police gear.

They resurfaced a few minutes later about a mile away, stopping a 29-year-old man riding a moped near 75th St. and 31st Ave., cops said.

They again pulled a gun and punched their victim in the face, forcing him off his moped and speeding away with it, cops said.

Both victims were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.

The crooks have not been caught.

Cops were scouring the area for video footage that could help them identify the suspects.
