Gun reported to be brought on T.W. Josey High School campus by student

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – School administrators are reporting that a T.W. Josey High School student had a gun on campus.

In a letter from Dr. Derrias Priestley, the principal of Josey High School, it states that a student reported to administrators that another student had a gun on campus.

According to officials, administrators located the student and conducted an administrative search where the gun was located in the student’s bag.

Administrators say that this situation is being addressed by the Richmond County School System Police and the Board of Education Code of Student Conduct and Discipline.

In the letter, Dr. Priestley is asking parents and guardians to please take this opportunity to speak to your child about the importance of school safety and the appropriateness
of items they bring to school, and if there are any safety concerns about our school, please report them to the school office or by calling the Richmond County School System Tip Line at 706-828-1077.
