Gun and marijuana found during traffic stop, Ohio pair arrested

KIDDER TOWNSHIP, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— State police say they arrested two people during a traffic stop in Carbon County after investigators found a gun and two bags of marijuana in their car.

On March 24 around 2:00 p.m., authorities say they stopped a Nissan Rogue near mile marker 280 on Interstate 80 West for alleged traffic violations.

During the stop, state troopers said 33-year-old Kevin Cravener, from Lodi, Ohio, and 32-year-old Amber Smith, from Cleveland, Ohio, consented to a search of their vehicle.

While searching the Nissan Rogue, investigators say they found two vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana and a .40 caliber pistol. Neither Cravener nor Smith were licensed to possess a firearm according to the charges filed.

Cravener is being charged with one felony count of possessing a firearm without a license and three misdemeanor counts related to the possession of a controlled substance. He is being held in the Carbon County Correctional Facility on a $75,000 bail.

Smith is facing one misdemeanor count of possessing a firearm without a license, four misdemeanor counts relating to the possession of a controlled substance, and three traffic-related charges. She is being held in the Carbon County Correctional Facility on a $25,000 bail.

State police in Fern Ridge say they are still investigating this incident.
