Principal Dr. Joe Gonzales said the school’s peace officer, who is the only person authorized to carry a firearm on campus, was on the bus speaking with the bus driver when they inadvertently left the gun on the seat.

Approximately five minutes later when students began boarding the bus, they  reported the gun to their bus driver, school officials said.

Gonzales says the peace officer and driver have been interviewed and any disciplinary action will be handled internally and according to school and state policy.
