Gulf Shores man dies in weekend motorcycle crash

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) — A Gulf Shores man has died after a weekend motorcycle crash, News 5 has learned.

Gulf Shores Police on Saturday responded to the 1000 block of East Canal Drive around 10:05 p.m. for a crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

INCIDENT LOCATION:

“Due to the severity of his injuries, the motorcyclist was transported … from the scene by helicopter,” a Gulf Shores Police Department news release said.

The car’s driver reportedly was not injured and the crash’s cause is still under investigation.

However, “evidence recovered at the scene, and witness interviews indicate the car was traveling west on Canal Drive when the motorcycle traveling east on Canal Drive crossed into the westbound lane of traffic, colliding with the car,” the news release said.

The motorcycle’s driver, 48-year-old Steven E. Hodo of Gulf Shores, died after arriving at the hospital, according to police.
