The chairman of Barilla Group, Guido Barilla, says his company will not feature gay families in advertisements for his products because he likes "the 'traditional' family." Which means he must hate the "Modern Family."
According to the Huffington Post, Guido made the anti-gay comments during an interview with La Zanzara on Radio24 yesterday, after the radio host asked him why his company does not have ads with gay families.
Guido said, "If gays like our pasta and our advertisings, they will eat our pasta; if they don't like that, they will eat someone else's pasta." He then followed it up by saying, "I think we want to talk to traditional families. The women are crucial in this." You know, because pasta helps keep the women occupied while they stay in the kitchen.
And lastly, good ol' Guido also said, "I would not do a commercial with a homosexual family, not for lack of respect toward homosexuals."
Which when you translate it from Italian to English, means "I have a lack of respect toward homosexuals."
Now, I have a confession to make, guys. I feel kinda guilty about this whole thing...Because before I got this gig at Takepart Live, I actually did a bunch of commercials—and i think the reason Guido Barilla feels this way, might be from a commercial I made for them. I don't know why—but let's take a look:
I still can't believe they didn't hire me after that.
