Guernsey-Noble BPW distributes Equal Pay Day information to local businesses

CAMBRIDGE − Chandra Ontko and Betty Duche’ of the Guernsey-Noble Business and Professional Women (GNBPW) recently distributed Equal Pay Day literature, Pay Day candy bars and fliers about the group's upcoming administrative professional luncheon to local businesses.

Their actions were meant to call attention to the wage gap in which women, on average, are paid 78 cents for every dollar paid to men.

Even though women make up 51% of the workforce, they hold only 17% of the managerial/executive positions.

Local employers have been encouraged to conduct self-audits to determine if their businesses have an established wage-setting policy and have a consistent and fair pay practice. GNBPW members in Guernsey and Noble counties organize activities to educate the public about the wage gap.

The Guernsey-Noble BPW supports the Haven of Hope, which serves women, men and children from Guernsey and Noble Counties. Regular meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month. Membership is open to all women and men.
