This “Guardians of the Galaxy” joke just happened IRL, and we can’t stop laughing

One of the standout moments of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes towards the end of the movie — so obviously, spoilers ahead for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

During the final battle, that pits the Guardians against Dad Planet Ego, at one point the Guardians’ ship is hit, leaving Star-Lord and Yondu to float down to the surface together. Star-Lord has his jet pack to bring him safely down, while Yondu uses his arrow (you know, the arrow for his fin). Star-Lord comments that he looks like Mary Poppins, and Yondu asks, “Who’s that? Is he cool?”

Star-Lord replies, “Yeah, he’s cool,” which leads Yondu to yell “I’m Mary Poppins, y’all!” Hats off to writer-director James Gunn for sneaking in this practically perfect joke into his Marvel movie.

) and now it’s actually happened IRL. Michael Rooker stopped by Disneyland the other day, and paused riding rides and eating Dole Whip long enough to snap a pic with Mary herself.

And he’s even holding onto the umbrella. This is TOO MUCH.

There is no shortage of Yondu + Mary Poppins mashups right now, so if Disney is really looking for another jolly holiday outing, tbh, it might be this.
