GRPD: Man dead after stabbing, suspect in custody

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man died after he was stabbed in the chest in Grand Rapids Sunday afternoon, police say.

Around 3:30 p.m., the Grand Rapids Police Department was called to Alpine Avenue NW near 7th Street NW for a report of a stabbing. Arriving officers found a man who had been stabbed in the chest. They gave him medical aid but the man ultimately died at the scene, police said.

Officers say they have a suspect in custody.

It’s unclear what led up to the stabbing and neither the victim nor suspect’s identity was released.
