Grottenthaler nets a hat trick for Youngstown State women’s lacrosse

YOUNGSTOWN, O.H. (WETM) – Corning grad Katie Grottenthaler scored her 2nd hat trick of the season for Youngstown State women’s lacrosse.

Corning’s Katie Grottenthaler matched the best performance of her NCAA Division I lacrosse career, on Sunday. The standout freshman scored her 2nd hat trick of the season for Youngstown State, in a 16-15 loss to Kent State. Grottenthaler equaled her 1st, 3-goal game from her debut with the Penguins, against Oregon. Additionally, the banner day accounts for the Corning grad’s 10th goal, and 3rd muti-goal game of the season.

Joining Grottenthaler on the Youngstown State roster is fellow Corning grad, Kaitlyn DiNardo. DiNardo is a redshirt sophomore, playing in 9 career games. The Corning native is the sister of Jenna DiNardo, who was a high school teammate of Grottenthaler, and is a standout at the University of Virginia.

Grottenthaler, DiNardo, and the Penguins will continue to look for their 1st win of the season, on Wednesday. Youngstown State is slated to travel to Lindenwood at 1 p.m.
