Grocery store fight report leads to sheriff's pursuit

Dec. 5—A Monticello man was arrested following an apparent altercation at a local grocery store.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, on Dec. 1, 2023 at approximately 8:07 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a fight in progress complaint at Save-A-Lot in Burnside, Ky. Deputies Tyler Pearson and Evan Whitis responded and contacted one subject involved in the fight.

The subject claimed he had no identifying documents, but provided information of a name and date of birth that could not be confirmed by Pulaski County 911 as belonging to the male, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputy Pearson informed the male he was being detained as he conducted the rest of his investigation, at which time the male subject fled from the scene on foot, traveling north on U.S. 27, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies Pearson and Whitis pursued the subject on foot, giving verbal commands for the subject to stop and were eventually able to catch the subject and gain control of him, according to the sheriff's office.

The male subject was later identified as Christopher Bolen, 30, Monticello, KY. Upon searching Bolen after the foot pursuit, Deputies located a clear plastic container in his pocket which appeared to have methamphetamine inside, according to the sheriff's office.

Bolen was arrested at the scene and charged with Giving Officer False Identifying Information; Second-Degree Fleeing or Evading Police-On Foot; Resisting Arrest; First-Degree Possession of Controlled Substance, First Offense Methamphetamine; and Second-Degree Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree.

Bolen was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
