Grey's Anatomy sees Catherine Avery share her sad secret as she returns
Grey's Anatomy spoilers follow.
Catherine Avery (Debbie Allen) revealed her sad secret to husband Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr) on the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy.
The character has been battling cancer, though so far Richard has remained unaware of the extent of how much it has progressed.
In last night's (March 16) episode 'Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves', Catherine returned after last being seen in November, turning to alternative medicine to help treat her cancer.

Richard realised that the Reiki healer she had turned to was for "pain management", and aired his suspicions that something wasn't right.
"I know something is wrong," Richard said. "I know you're trying to protect me. But, whatever it is, I'm ready to hear it."
Catherine then heartbreakingly revealed to her husband the truth that her "cancer is progressing".

Elsewhere on Grey's Anatomy, earlier this month the show unveiled Teddy as the new Chief of Surgery.
In the scenes, she put her name forward, though she questioned why she had done so as it was a bit of a poisoned chalice. She was advised to make the most of the desperate situation at Grey Sloan, and put forward big demands to Richard.
He denied them, and said he'll take the position himself, leading Teddy to dial back some of her demands. Amelia then went for the job too, going for even bigger demands than Teddy, forcing Richard to choose Teddy as the cheaper option after all.
Grey's Anatomy season 19 airs on Thursdays on ABC in the US. The show streams on Disney+ in the UK, where new episodes premiere on Wednesdays.
