Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Grey's Anatomy'sseason 14 midseason finale.

The Grey's Anatomy midseason finale aired on ABC on Thursday night (November 16) and the cliffhanger ending left fans in a severe state of distress. Here's why.

During the episode, Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) got a terrifying visitor from her past when her abusive ex-husband Dr Paul Stadler (played by former Glee star Matthew Morrison) rocked up.

Unfortunately, the visit could not have come at a worse time, as Jo was actually in the middle of running to the room of a patient about to be administered a drug that would surely kill him.

OK. OK. OK. Let's take this one back to the beginning.

During the episode, the ER took a sick kid who could be treated with a drug that would either cure him or kill him.

As Jo and Karev (Justin Chambers) tried to figure out how the drug would affect the child, Karev later decided it would probably work and went to administer it.

At the same time, Jo discovered it wouldn't work and Karev was making a fatal mistake; and she was running to the kid's hospital room to tell Karev when she got stopped at the elevator by her ex.

And absolutely no fan could cope.
