‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Ratings Now Even, ‘Big Bang’ Up, ‘Mom’ & Game Of Silence’ Adjusted Down In Final Numbers – UPDATE
UPDATE, 2:24 PM: We saw more adjustments than usual with the final ratings for Thursday night. ABC and TGIT can breathe a little easier as Grey’s Anatomy moved up to a 2.0/7, which makes it even with last week and no longer matching a series low. CBS’s The Big Bang Theory still the top show of the night but the comedy blockbuster was adjusted up a tenth to a 3.4/12 or 6% over last week.
CBS comedy Mom and NBC drama Game Of Silence both went down a tenth to 1.7/6 and a scary 0.6/2 – that’s now a 6% and 14% demo drop from their April 21 shows. After hitting a season high in early numbers, The Odd Couple (1.7/6) went down a tenth in the final results – that’s makes the reboot now even with last week. The same is true for the CW’s The 100 (0.4/1).
PREVIOUS, 9:15 AM: There was a lot of sports action on cable last night with Day 1 of the NFL Draft and the Atlanta Hawks beating the Boston Celtics in their NBA Playoffs series to advance to the Eastern Conference semi-finals. There also was some sports action on broadcast as The Odd Couple (1.8/6) took it out to the ballpark with the New York Mets.
With a 6% uptick among adults 18-49 and rising 20% since its April 7 debut, the CBS comedy actually hit a bit of a home run with a Season 2 demo high. In fact, with little apparent impact from the NFL and NBA action on cable and The Big Bang Theory (3.3/12) up a tenth, the House of Moonves won Thursday again with the exact same 1.7/6 rating it got last week. Also topping the night in total viewership, CBS dipped a bit from the 7.86 million of its April 21 results to 7.67 million. The rest of CBS’ night saw Mom (1.8/6), 2 Broke Girls (1.6/5) and Rush Hour (0.9/3) even and the latter two down a tenth, respectively.
Down was the term for Grey’s Anatomy (1.9/7) with the usually steady powerhouse of TGIT slipping 5% among the key demo. Not a big deal percentage-wise, but with the show’s second consecutive decline, last night’s result matches a series low for Grey’s and is only the second time the Shonda Rhimes-produced medical drama ever has gone below a 2.0 rating. Interestingly, the slippage suffered by Grey’s didn’t hurt either Scandal (1.6/5) or The Catch (1.0/3), which were up 7% and 11% each.
The CW also had some upward ratings movement with DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow (0.7/3) jumping up 17% in the demo and matching NBC’s down-a-tenth Strong (0.7/3) in the 8 PM slot. At 9 PM, The 100 (0.5/1) was up a strong 25% for its best demo result since March 3.
NBC had a pretty steady night with The Blacklist (1.2/4) slipping 8% from its April 21 show and Game of Silence (0.7/2) even with last week. Fox’s Bones (0.8/3) was even with its early numbers of last week, which ended up being adjusted up a tenth in final numbers. Lead-out America Grit (0.7/2) matched the less-than-stellar results of its April 21 show.
