1 dead, 1 wounded, 1 hurt in Gresham shooting

GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) — One person died and another was wounded when gunfire erupted in Gresham shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday.

The shooting happened near the corner of NE 162nd and Glisan, authorities said Sunday evening. When police arrived they found 2 people shot and another who was hurt during the incident.

The 2 people who were shot were rushed to an area hospital, where one of them died. The third person who was hurt is expected to recover, though the nature of their injuries was not disclosed.

They have not yet been publicly identified, nor has the third person who was hurt.

Gresham police said they “are not looking for any outstanding shooting suspects at this time.”

An active investigation remains in progress and officials said they believe there are multiple people who saw what happened in the moments that led to the shooting. The East County Major Crimes Team is leading the investigation.

Neighbors who spoke with KOIN 6 News, like Jenny who lives across the street, said they heard the gunshots which terrified them.

Jenny said she heard “12 gunshots,” which was “scary because I just live right there.”

Northeast Glisan was blocked between the CSL Plasma Donation Center to the Glen East Apartments as detectives searched for evidence, marked shell casings and talked with witnesses.

“It’s been getting worse (in the area),” Jenny said. “It’s been getting pretty worse here.”
