Greeneville Energy Authority: Lineman burned while responding to power outage

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — An electric lineman sustained “significant burns” while responding to a power outage Saturday morning in Greeneville, the Greeneville Energy Authority reports.

According to a social media post by the Greeneville Energy Authority, the incident occurred near Rollins Chapel Road on Saturday morning. The post said a crew member made contact with a 7,200-volt electrical line while working to restore power to the area.

The post said the man was initially flown to Johnson City Medical Center but was later transported to a burn center at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

According to the Greeneville Energy Authority, the worker’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, however, “there are significant burns on both of his hands.”

This is an unfortunate reminder of the dangers that GEA lineman deal with on a daily basis. We ask that each of you please join us in prayer for our coworker and his family at this time and specifically pray that he will retain use of both of his hands.
