GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) – Jordan Allen is charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the alleged killing of his 7-year-old brother Jessie Allen and his grandmother back in April 2022.

At that time Jordan Allen was just 16 years old. Now at 18 years old, Allen appeared in the Greene County court on Tuesday for a motions hearing.

The motion hearing gave both Allen’s public defender and the district attorney general an opportunity to bring up issues for the judge to decide on before the trial. Todd Estep, Allen’s public defender, wanted to request that some photos taken at the crime scene be removed or have certain parts blacked out.

“Your honor, there’s a lot of DNA evidence in this case,” Estep said. “I just want to make sure that everything is there in case new evidence is ever discovered.”

Estep feels that because Jessie Allen was only 7 years old when he was killed the photos could be too gruesome for the jury. Other photos he argued are unnecessary to the case.

“I’m just covering my bases, making sure that I protect my client’s rights and act effectively if there’s been anything new that comes along,” Estep said. “Considering the fact that when you look at the TBI agents that help process the scene, all the Greene County sheriff’s deputies that were on the scene, and the analysts that process that, you’re getting into a lot of witnesses.”

Another motion request Estep asked the judge for was to push back the trial date which was originally set in May. The judge granted the motion request and pushed the trial to date to January 2025.
