Greenbrier West High School minors allegedly involved in Beckley incident

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — An incident reportedly involving Greenbrier West High School students was under investigation in Raleigh County on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Raleigh County Sheriff Jim Canaday said on Friday that the alleged incident, which occurred in late February, involved only juveniles. The sheriff also tells 59News it happened when students were in Beckley for a high school wrestling tournament.

According to Canaday, the Public Resource Office at Greenbrier West contacted the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department after the tournament to report the alleged incident.

“Where the investigation is still ongoing, I’m really hesitant to release a ton of information right now, but there are several individuals involved in it,” said Sheriff Canaday.
