Greenbrier soccer remain undefeated after win over Statesboro

AUGUSTA, GA (WJBF) – The Greenbrier soccer team has opened the season with six straight wins after defeating Statesboro 7-0 at home. The Wolfpack have been working hard to get to this point and Head Coach Rob Husted said it’s been a long road getting here but he’s really pleased with the way the season has started for his squad.

“I’m liking our ball movement, we’re moving the ball around really well. we’re doing a very good job keeping the pressure on, on defense especially,” says Coach Husted, “it’s been a long road getting there, but we’re actually putting the ball in the back of the net which is exactly where we need to be.”

Losing talented players to graduation is always hard on a program but the Wolfpack have embraced their younger players and those newcomers have started to be major playmakers for Greenbrier on the soccer field. ” We have spent a lot of time trying to figure out who we are this year,” says Coach Husted, “We brought in a lot of new guys, and they are really adapting well. They are loving being part of this team, they’ve all really bought in to what we’re doing here, and I think we’ve got a really good future for it.”

Greenbrier’s next matchup on Friday will be at Ware County at 7pm.
