RCPD says Green Valley Elementary secured after a nearby robbery attempt

UPDATE: 2:54 P.M. ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke County Police Department (RCPD) has provided details into the incident that led to a police presence near the Green Valley Elementary School.

According to RCPD, officers responded at 12:15 p.m. to the 3100 of Honeywood Lane for an attempted armed robbery. The police department alerted nearby Green Valley Elementary School about the situation and officers were on the scene doing security checks, as precautions.

Police are currently investigating the alleged robbery and believe it is an isolated situation with no threat to the public.
