Greek govt expected within 24 hours

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — The head of Greece's small Democratic Left party says it has agreed to support a coalition government, and that an announcement on its formation should come within the next 24 hours.

Fotis Kouvelis said Wednesday that his party, which won 17 of Parliament's 300 seats in Sunday's election, would give a vote of confidence in the government.

The new coalition is expected to comprise the election winner New Democracy conservative party, the socialist PASOK that came in third, and Democratic Left.

Kouvelis said an announcement was expected "in the course of the next day."
