According to the police department, the State of Texas issued a “generous” amount of the over-the-counter drug, Narcan, that has been put to use.

In December, police reportedly placed a man into custody who then began to overdose. Officers administered the drug quickly and Gun Barrel PD said it ultimately saved the man’s life.

In February, Gun Barrel City PD said that officers were waiting for EMS to arrive on the scene of an overdose and officers were able to administer Narcan to regain the subjects consciousness, allowing EMS to provide aid more easily.
