'Be Great' book scholarship banquet planned

May 10—LIMA — The 2024 "Be Great" Book Scholarship awards banquet will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Old Barn Restaurant and Grill, 3175 W. Elm St., Lima.

The banquet, sponsored by the Smith-Jones Family Foundation, is open to the public, with brunch available for purchase immediately following the program.

There are five finalists from Lima/Allen County for the scholarship awards. They are:

—Lauren French, Delphos Jefferson High School.

—JaMyia Lynch, Lima Senior High School.

—Seth Sharp, Elida High School.

—Malachi Talbert, Lima Central Catholic High School.

—Amaiya Thomas, Lima Senior High School.

The keynote address will be delivered by Faymi Gahndi, the 2020 "Be Great" Book Scholarship award recipient.
